Since 2021

Our Roots in Nature

Our journey began in 2021 with a curiosity about Newmarket's forgotten streams.  What were once untouched and healthy chalk streams (once providing clean water to the coffee house at the Jockey Club) have over time been meddled with, used as a sewer, culverted under the town and been renamed "public drains no 1 and 2".

We believe that  every community has the power to improve and restore their environment. What started as a curiosity and an inkling that Newmarket's unloved streams were rare chalk streams  has evolved into a dedicated mission to preserve our natural heritage and improve the biodiversity of these rare chalk stream habitats.
